The short version: you can play every day without an account, and then nothing you do leaves your device. If you sign in, we store your email (or Google account), a display name, and your daily results so they sync across your devices. There are no ads, no analytics, and no third-party trackers. You can delete everything yourself, instantly, from Settings — no email needed.

Who we are

Make Me Red is a daily puzzle game run by Thomas Hymas (“we”, the data controller). For anything about your data, contact privacy@makeme.red.

What we collect, and when

Playing as a guest (no sign-in): your game progress, results and settings are stored only in your browser (localStorage). None of it is sent to us or anyone else.
If you sign in (by email magic-link or Google): your email address; if you use Google, the basic account identity Google returns; a display name; and your per-day results (moves and completion time) and settings, so they follow you across devices.

Why we can use it (legal basis)

We process your email and results to provide the account and cross-device sync you asked for (performance of that service, and our legitimate interest in running the game). You’re never required to sign in to play.

Who else is involved

We keep the list short and use each only to run the game:

Supabase — sign-in and the database that stores your results and profile.
Hetzner — the server, hosted in Germany (EU).
Google — only if you choose “Sign in with Google”, to authenticate you.
Cloudflare — DNS for the makeme.red domain.

We do not sell your data, and we don’t share it beyond what’s needed to run the service.

One account across our games

Make Me Red shares its sign-in with our other game, Competitive Crosswords. If you sign in to both with the same email or Google account, you’re the same account — the same identity and display name — across them. Signing in still needs a separate, explicit sign-in on each site.

Cookies & storage

We don’t use tracking cookies, advertising, or analytics. We use your browser’s localStorage to remember your game, and — if you sign in — a session token so you stay signed in. That’s it.

How long we keep it

Guest data lives in your browser until you clear it. Account data is kept while your account exists — and you can delete it yourself at any time (see below).

Deleting your data

Open the menu → Settings → Delete my data. It’s instant and erases your Make Me Red results and profile and clears this device. If Make Me Red is the only game you use with your account, it also deletes your sign-in (and email) entirely; if you also play Competitive Crosswords, your shared sign-in is kept and only your Make Me Red data is removed.

Your rights

You can download everything yourself: Settings → Download my data saves a JSON file of what’s on your device and, if you’re signed in, everything our server holds. To correct something or object to our processing, email privacy@makeme.red. If you’re in the UK or EU you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Children

Make Me Red isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this notice we’ll update the date above; significant changes will be made clear in the game.
